Bloomberg reported this morning that a German data regulator is seeking to question Apple over its use of the Carrier IQ mobile tracking software in iPhones: Back in the United States, Senator Al Franken is urging Carrier IQ and Sprint to detail how specifically the software works and what data it transmits, demanding that Carrier IQ explain themselves by December 14. Phone vendors and platform providers such as Google are attempting to distance themselves from Carrier IQ, arguing carriers deploy the software on handsets and mine data....

Apple officially confirmed its November 10 event yesterday, where it’s expected to announce new Apple Silicon Macs. Ahead of that event, prolific designer AR7 has released wallpapers for the iPhone inspired by Apple’s “One more thing” event artwork. Apple’s invitation for the November 10 event is bright and colorful, and one of the best-looking invites we’ve seen from Apple recently. The wallpapers from AR7 play on the colorful design, and there are two different versions with the Apple logo and even a gradient version without the Apple logo....

The tech giant said it’s adding a Digital Assets Team within its Cloud service that will “support customers’ needs in building, transacting, storing value, and deploying new products on blockchain-based platforms.” Google said it’s looking to help companies build a secure and sustainable infrastructure to scale. “As an infrastructure provider, Google Cloud views the evolution of blockchain technology and decentralized networks today as analogous to the rise of open source and the internet 10-15 years ago,” wrote Yolande Piazza, Vice President of Financial Services at Google Cloud, in the company’s blog post....

Google this afternoon has begun rolling out a major update to the Play Music app on iOS. The update packs a handful of new features and enhancements, including a totally refreshed Material Design interface, and for the first time, an iPad optimized interface, as well. Google touts that this update offers new album and artist description pages with a new, cleaner design as well as a more immersive Now Playing experience with album artwork taking up the entire display....

Actually, the patent was filed in 2008, but it’s caused quite a stir on the web today.
