Ghost Recon Breakpoint was disappointing for everyone involved: gamers aren’t happy with what they got and Ubisoft isn’t happy with how it performed. Unfortunately, the publisher has gone a step further and implied it was the players’ faults for their latest game’s failure, or at least the structure that led to it. Before its release, Ghost Recon Breakpoint was the highly anticipated sequel to the middling Ghost Recon Wildlands, a game that sought to reboot the Ghost Recon franchise in an open world....

Glee was a ratings juggernaut for much of its earlier seasons. Following a plucky group of high schoolers in their efforts to win the national group singing competition while at the same time battling teen pregnancy, homophobia, infidelity, and so much teen drama, the show relied heavily on its reworkings of pop songs for its success. The cast of the show was an eclectic bunch of fashion models masquerading as Hollywood’s perception of geeks and losers....

The MGM deal falls on the heals of the Paramount Pictures deal Google announced just few weeks back and of course the Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks deal back in November. All in, YouTube has signed five of the six major studios (Fox is still the holdout) which puts it on pace to bring my prediction to fruition that YouTube will soon make NetFlix irrelevant in the long-term, at least in regards to its online streaming business....

There can’t be many occasions on which a huge tech company has added a new feature to an app – then removed it just 24 hours later after user kickback. But that’s exactly what’s just happened with an update to the iPhone version of Google Maps. And of all the unlikely things that feature could be, it’s a cupcake … In an apparent effort to encourage people to walk rather than drive, Google Maps started showing alternative walking directions when short driving directions were requested, complete with a note on how many calories you’d burn during the walk....

Following updates for the Google Docs suite of apps last week, Google today has pushed an update to Gmail for iOS that brings support for the iPhone X. The update comes after nearly a month of iPhone X availability… This update is good news for hardcore Gmail users with the iPhone X as prior to today, the app was letterboxed along the top and the bottom of the display, significantly reducing the amount of screen real-estate available in the app....

Rescheduling Meetings in Google Calendar If you have a large organization, when it comes to scheduling a meeting, it can be a tedious process, but Google is trying to make things easier with new additions to Calendar. A couple weeks ago the company added Out of Office Mode to Calendar. It helps your coworkers know when you’re not available to respond to requests or accept meetings. And today’s announced new feature will help your organization manage meetings, too....

To get started, install the Panic Button extension for Chrome. The PanicButton icon appears next to the Chrome address bar. To hide all tabs, click the PanicButton icon and it hides all the tabs and will turn green. It also displays the number of tabs hidden. Click on it again to reopen all of the tabs. It lets you assign shortcut keys to PanicButton as well. To do that, right click on PanicButton icon and click on Options....

After rolling out early support for the feature on Android and desktop last month, Google today has updated Chrome for iOS with support for exporting passwords. The feature comes as part of version 66 of the app… Support for exporting saved passwords in Chrome first came to Android and desktops last month. The feature was included in Chrome 65, though required enabling via an experimental flag, suggesting it was not yet ready for primetime....

Android Notifications in Windows 10 The first thing to do is download the Cortana app from the Google Play Store. It’s worth noting that Cortana is only available to U.S. users. However, if you live outside the U.S. you can use the APK Mirror to get it (and yes, it’s safe). After you have the app downloaded, launch it, and you’ll be required to sign-in with your Microsoft Account. Then, select Settings and Sync notifications as shown below....

Before the era of streaming services, endless TV real estate and Peak TV, the existence of GLOW would be practically unimaginable. It’s hard to imagine, say, CBS, in 1994, greenlighting a TV series based on the all-female professional wrestling league GLOW (which stood for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, a mostly Las Vegas-based circuit that mostly consisted of models and actresses pursuing careers in pro wrestling). But Netflix now has. The 10-episode first season of the series, from Weeds and Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan, was announced last year for Netflix, with a cast led by Alison Brie and Marc Maron, with Betty Gilpin, Jackie Tohn, and Ellen Wong also listed among the cast....

The Good Place series finale included a surprise cameo from a fan-favorite on Parks and Recreation: Nick Offerman, potentially as Ron Swanson. After four critically acclaimed seasons, NBC’s terrific comedy about the afterlife has finally concluded. Created by Michael Schur, who previously worked on The Office and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place originally followed Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), who woke up in a heaven-like utopia called the “Good Place,” which was run by Michael (Ted Danson)....

Google announced a major update today for its Google+ mobile apps that, among a number of other features, brings some of Snapseed’s basic photo-editing enhancements to the iPhone app thanks to its recent Nik Software acquisition: Do basic edits like rotate and crop, as well as select filters like Drama and Retrolux Adjust saturation, contrast, brightness and lots more by sliding your fingers up-and-down, then left-and-right Single tap at any time to compare your creation with the original Google isn’t entirely merging Snapseed into the Google+ apps, as it still recommends downloading its standalone Snapseed app for more advanced editing features....

Google has now announced that the Cardboard is compatible with Street View, allowing user to wear the headset and experience Google Maps Street View in a new, immersive way. Described as a easter egg (or Christmas egg?), users just have to double-tap the navigation circle in the lower right corner of Google Maps, and then the app will show a stereoscopic 360-degree view of the location they have chosen. If you are a Google Cardboard owner, for this feature to work, you just need to make sure that you have updated both your Google Cardboard and Google Maps apps....

With the launch of iOS 14 last year, many Google apps added support for updated homescreen widgets. The Google Search widgets are now adding nice customizable backgrounds for iPhone and iPad. The main Google app on iOS offers two widgets, starting with a simple 1×1 shortcut that immediately opens the search field and keyboard to quickly enter a query. Google’s bigger widget also lets you quickly enter Lens, do a Voice Search, and Incognito lookup....

If you use Google Photos on your iPhone and iPad (and you should), you can now use AirPlay to view selected photos on your Apple TV. Google quietly added the feature in an update to the app yesterday… It’s the only functionality added to the update, the rest of which was merely performance improvements. Google Photos is a recommended app for all iPhone users as the company allows free, unlimited, automatic storage of all photos up to 16MP – which includes all photos taken with an iPhone or iPad....

As it’s been learned over the years, Google pays Apple to remain the default search engine in Safari on iOS. While neither company publicly speaks on the agreement, analysts believe payments are made in the billions. According to analyst Rod Hall (via Business Insider), Google may be paying Apple upwards of $9 billion this year to remain the default search engine for Apple’s Safari browser on iOS. Hall believes that this number will only continue to grow, potentially leading to a payment of $12 billion in 2019....

The cost of the faux-currency called Iron in Gears 5 has just gone up in the United Kingdom, surprising fans that weren’t briefed ahead of time on the changes. The release of Gears 5 has been met with some largely positive buzz from critics and fans. The game has been praised for making some much-needed updates to the franchise and could very well be considered a high note in the ongoing swan song that is the Xbox One’s lifecycle....
