Good Omens will release on May 31, and while there’s not been too much revealed, the first trailer at New York Comic Con looked fantastic. Of course, as with any adaptation, there are going to be some changes from page to screen - some of which have already been revealed with casting announcements, and some of which were revealed for the first time at NYCC. As a whole, it seems that Good Omens is definitely going to satisfy fans of the novel (although Gaiman is well aware that not everyone will love the show), and we talked with the cast and creators about what kinds of changes (big and small) have been made for the small screen....

Google today announced that it’s acquiring Timeful Inc, the company behind the Timeful app that offers a central location for time management, calendar functions, to-do list and scheduling features. While the company confirmed that you will be able to continue downloading the Timeful app from the App Store— the app is iOS only— it also said that it will focus “the team’s attention will be on new projects at Google.” That means the Timeful team will begin implementing features of Timeful into Google apps, the company confirmed....

In the app, the “For You” tab houses a rundown of stories that Google thinks you’ll be interested in. For me, this ranged from some political news to technology and sports. Meanwhile, the “Headlines” feature serves as way to quickly skim through the biggest news of the day. You can sort by the latest stories, as well as topics such as business, technology, sports, science, entertainment, and health. In the “Favorites” tab you can add specific topics, sources, and locations that you’re interested in....

App publisher Glu today announced its latest game, which is also its latest celebrity partnership with actor Jason Statham starring as the game’s main playable character. The free game is a first-person shooter that some players will notice bears a similarity and seems to borrow from some of Glu’s past FPS games including the Contract Killer series. The celebrity tie-in, featuring Statham’s name, likeness, and voice, follows Glu’s successful “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” game that reports last year said was on pace to take in around $200 million....

It’s not surprising that the God of War series has sparked debates and discussions on Reddit where fans have expressed some unpopular opinions about the games. With over a decade worth of content, there’s bound to be different views about the games’ characters, storylines, and more. Back in 2013, Matthew McConaughey gave a much-praised performance as Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club, a biopic that follows Woodroof as he smuggles unapproved drugs into Texas to help alleviate his AIDS symptoms. The Texan actor, who had up until that point seen little critical acclaim, suddenly became the recipient of the Academy Award for Best Actor. Millward Brown’s annual BrandZ study, which was released today, points to Apple as the second most valuable brand just below Google. This is a reversal from the previous study, which found Apple ranked just above Google. In the study, Google’s brand value was calculated at $158,843,000, while Apple came in at only $147,880,000. Of course, this study doesn’t actually point to which company is the most valuable. Instead, Millward Brown uses a combination of financial information—including projected future sales—and customer surveys to determine how much a brand is worth—or how much of the company’s value comes from customers’ views of that company....

Finally some much needed smart appliance love for those without central air conditioning (and it’ll keep you cool): the Quirky Aros. Backed by GE, the New York-based start-up Quirky has combined the traditional window A/C unit with some very modern technologies to create the Nest (smart thermostat) of window air conditioners at a particularly reasonable price. On the surface, the Aros is an 8,000 BTU window A/C unit (rated to cool 350 square feet) with an almost Apple-like exterior (it looks as good as any window A/C unit I could imagine)....

Google this morning has released a major update for Gmail on iOS. The update bumps the app to version 4.0 and packs a handful of new features. This means third-party clients, such as the iOS Contacts app, will now be able to sync Google contacts using the protocol rather than using alternative options like Exchange. Google noted the addition is “making it possible for 3rd parties to build a seamless Google Account sync experience....
