Google today is releasing a pretty big update to its Gmail app that on top of introducing tweaked visuals for iOS 7 also includes a handful of new features for iPad. The iPhone app appears to have received a few tweaks including a slightly redesigned side navigation bar, but the majority of the UI changes are most noticeable in the iPad app. It receives a slimmed down navigation bar on the left that lets users switch between accounts and inboxes in landscape view, as well as new full-screen moss for messages in portrait an composing new emails....

After reports last week, Google has confirmed this morning that it will acquire Fitbit for the sum of $2.1 billion… Rick Osterloh put out a post today on Google’s blog to confirm that Alphabet has entered a “definitive agreement” to acquire Fitbit as it looks to bolster its wearables offering. Osterloh specifically mentions that the company is looking to “invest even more” in its Wear OS platform with this acquisition and bring Made by Google wearable devices to the market....

User Interface Updates Chrome 6 has a new look, and it might not be huge and noticeable but there are quite a few little things and they are worth counting. The little “Go” arrow in the address bar has been toasted, and now there is a star there to quickly bookmark your favorite pages.
